About

Canal Wheel Ceramics is a one-person studio practice — run by potter Marie Lin in the heart of Amsterdam.

Marie Lin

Designer turned potter — drawn to clay for its pace, its honesty, and the way a finished cup can hold a quiet moment.

Every piece draws inspiration from minimalist aesthetics, Asian heritage, and a personal path through design. Clean lines from modern architecture meet organic shapes from daily life — simple forms with elegant detail and texture.

Each item embodies the mindfulness and patience of pottery. Marie hopes these pieces bring a touch of calm to your space, inviting you to pause, find joy in the present, and appreciate life’s simple moments in a world that so often moves too fast.

The studio

Work happens on Prinsengracht — clay, water, wheel, and kiln in a small Amsterdam workspace shared with the rhythm of the canal.

Wheel first

Almost everything begins centred on the wheel, then refined by hand before glaze and fire.

Small batch

Limited numbers keep attention high and waste low — forms made when the clay is ready, not on demand.
